My name is Lauren Elizabeth McCarthy. I am a Badgertastic graduate of Spring Hill College (SHC) in Mobile, Ala. I very much enjoyed life as an Integrated Communications major and received my Bachelor of Arts on May 7, 2011. I am pleased to report an extremely involved four years at SHC within multiple student organizations and leadership roles. I thoroughly enjoyed these various opportunities. I am currently an Account Assistant for JJPR, an independent public relations agency in Daphne, Ala.
My hometown, via Oahu, Hawaii and Key West, Fla., is Pensacola, Fla. I have grown to appreciate the beautiful and enriching historical aspects of the area. I thrive on the sweet southern sunshine and cannot go even a week without wearing flip flops.
With a great tenure at Spring Hill College came great responsibility. Paired with my academic responsibilities, I spent sophomore through senior years as an executive member of both the Student Government Association and the Campus Programming Board at Spring HIll College. These leadership roles awarded me opportunities to create, plan and implement dozens of student programs and activities. These student-run organizations provided significant hands-on experience with networking, policy awareness and event planning. I have attended the National Association for Campus Activities (NACA) South Regional Conference four times, once as the block-booking delegate for Spring Hill College.
In addition to my duties during the school year, I spent each summer at SHC as a summer worker for the Center for Student Involvement (planning events for the Weeks of Welcome) as well as a Preview Orientation Guide serving as a role model to incoming SHC badgers.
This August I will be joining the magical land of the Walt Disney World Resort as a Merchandise Cast Member in the Fall 2011 Disney College Program. This is a dream-come-true for me and I look forward to experiencing the magic!
